dlocate software package provides fast alternative to dpkg -L and dpkg -S, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install dlocate
dlocate is installed in your system.
Make ensure the dlocate package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep dlocate *
You will get with dlocate package name, version, architecture and description in a table
